Production system for a precision manufacturer
A precision manufacturer with two factories, one in Denmark and one abroad, managed its CNC programs, tools and fixtures in large Excel sheets and printed lists on the factory floor. I am the only developer on the system and have built it from the first prototype, in close collaboration with the people who use it.
Precision manufacturing · 2 factories · 2 countries
Example: adding a new program
Before
- Data was typed by hand from one Excel sheet into another
- A free program number had to be found by looking through thousands of rows
- A lot was written down by hand and passed back and forth
- Printed lists with different, outdated information were hanging around the factory
Now
- You press "add", and the rest happens automatically
- The system finds a free number by itself
- Duplicate rows are prevented
- The change is instantly available to everyone, at both factories
- One central place instead of printed lists
The system is used every day by the people who create the programs and by the operators on the floor, at both factories.
What else the system does
- Keeps running at each factory, even if the connection between them drops
- Inventory and ordering from suppliers, with alerts
- User roles, so people only see and change what they should
- A log of every change, which cannot be tampered with
- Automatic, encrypted backups
The first version went live in 2024 and has been in daily use at both factories since. The system keeps being developed in close collaboration with the client.
The client is anonymous on this page for now.
two-way sync
Both factories keep working, even if the connection drops
